I am an Assistant Professor of Music at UND. Let this letter serve as an official protest against the Board's decision and its decision-making process regarding UND's athletic teams's nickname and logo. I wish to make two remarks:

1) The atmosphere of indifference to the human rights of a significant minority of the student body on the campus of UND is affecting my ability to teach my students.

2) The Board's decision to undermine the thoughtful information-gathering process instituted by President Kupchella has severly weakened my confidence in the North Dakota University System.
