Uneconomic Economics Masquerading
as Science. Recherché a la Temps Crapper. |
One of the papers submitted to the Midwest Solid State Conference and Solid State Theory Symposium hosted by John L Wagner and scheduled to be read by brain damaged Dr. Glenn Lykken of the University of North Dakota was an example of Uneconomic Economics Masquerading as Physical science. Lykken has obtained a $133,683 NSF grant (http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/epscor/mission/e_table.html ) for studying the economics of what amounts to the melting down of the lead from old leaded glass windows to minimize the presence of radioactive contaminants in the lead thus obtained to be used in cheap lead solder as opposed to slightly more expensive alternatives. Perhaps the most appropriate comment on this "research" is that in somewhat more expensive Victorian houses the room containing the toilet, (most commonly manufactured in England by Thomas Crapper and Son,) had a leaded glass window. Professor Lykken is also famous on the UND campus for the distribution of copies of the Holy Bible. Is this association of Professor Wagner with Professor Lykken an example of what Jesus meant when Jesus said "if the blind leadeth the blind they shall both fall into the gutter"? In this case we have morally blind J.L. Wagner (KINKY TORRID ROMANCE BY RANDY PHYSICS PROFESSOR) and the intellectually blinded Dr. Lykken [http://www.ddj.com/articles/2000/0004/0004t/0004t.htm] apparently leading one another. Perhaps the most outrageous part of all of this is that the public is paying for this. [with apologies to Marcel Proust] |
